Somerville Garden Club

Meeting – July 11, 2018

Gardens around the world (Spain, Cuba, and Costa Rica)

Garden Club members love to travel. And when we travel, we like to visit parks, gardens, farms — anywhere where things are grown.

This month’s meeting will feature the Spanish-speaking world. Rosemary will talk about Islamic gardens of Granada and Seville in Southern Spain. Suzi Teegarden will talk about the development of organic farming in Cuba. Rita Edmunds will focus on some botanic gardens in Cuba. And Carol Rego will describe the botanical gardens, butterfly gardens, and rain forests of Costa Rica. (This is the first of several presentations by club members we will present about gardens near and far that club members have visited.)

There will also be our usual plant roundtable, raffle, and information about our upcoming Plant Sale (September 15th – Save the Date!) All Somerville Garden Club meetings are free and open to the public. 7-9pm. Meetings are held the at the Tufts Administration Building, (TAB), 167 Holland Street, second floor, wheelchair accessible. Parking is available, and the building is a ten-minute walk from the Davis Square MBTA stop.

Be on the look out! Now is the time to pull out the Black Swallow-wort (or pinch off the pods) where you can find, and safely, take care of it.
