Somerville Garden Club

Meeting – May 8, 7-9pm

At the Somerville Garden Club monthly meeting on May 8, five members of the Somerville Garden Club will be giving mini-workshops demonstrating various hands-on gardening projects.

  • Ann Steinberg and Evelyn Persoff will show meeting attendees how to make May wine using their home-grown sweet woodruff.
  • Rita Edmunds, a talented botanical illustrator, will demonstrate and teach participants how to paint horticultural botanicals from a still-life using water color paints and paper.
  • Lina Morales, an avid organic vegetable grower, will teach members how to plant vegetable seeds and tend them from seedlings to full-grown fruiting plants. Participants will plant seeds in small containers they can take home.
  • Frances McCormick, artist and former art teacher, will demonstrate how to make plant labels using recycled materials. Those participating in her workshop will create their own plant labels to take home.

Each of the four demonstrations will be offered in fifteen-minute workshops, giving participants a chance to enjoy all four if they wish.

All Somerville Garden Club meetings are free and open to the public. Meetings are usually held the second Wednesday of each month at the Tufts Administration Building, (TAB), 167 Holland Street, second floor, wheelchair accessible. Parking is available, and the building is a ten-minute walk from the Davis Square MBTA stop.
