The Somerville Garden Club Scholarship Program offers grants up to $250 to its members who take courses or participate in workshops with tuition fees. These activities should be consistent with the club’s mission: sharing gardening interests and expertise, sustaining the environment, and promoting urban green spaces.
Suggested topics of courses:
- sound gardening practices
- use of native species
- conserving water
- other topics relevant to the urban environment
Application Deadline: Rolling
Who is eligible: All SGC members except those who earn part or all of their income from professional gardening activities.
How to apply:
- Identify the course/workshop you wish to take relevant to the SGC mission offered by an area institution, such as: Mass Horticultural Society, Native Plant Trust, New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill, Arnold Arboretum, Cambridge Center for Adult Ed, Ecological Landscape Alliance and others in and beyond Boston.
- Email scholars@somervillegardenclub.org and provide the title, a brief description of the event, the sponsor, location, cost, and course dates.
- On completion of the course/workshop, email receipt and evidence of attendance/completion to scholars@somervillegardenclub.org
